Privacy Policy

Effective September 6, 2026

BaristaMatch LLC, a Florida limited liability company ("BaristaMatch," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the BaristaMatch hiring marketplace for baristas and cafés. We use personal information to operate accounts, profiles, job posts, applications, matching, messaging, safety, and related marketplace features. We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising.

1. Information we collect

We collect information you provide, including your email address, account type, name or café name, location, biography, skills, experience, availability, desired pay, job details, applications, matching activity, messages between matched users, and notification activity. Barista profiles require a date of birth for age eligibility. Gender is optional: you may select Female or Male, leave it unprovided, or select Prefer not to say to remove a previous selection. Choosing not to provide gender does not affect profile visibility, matching, or access. Date of birth, calculated age, and gender are stored separately as private account information and are never shown to cafés or on marketplace profiles. We use date of birth to confirm minimum-age eligibility and produce aggregate age reporting; voluntarily provided gender is used only for aggregate reporting. If you choose to upload profile photos, café images, or a coffee showcase video, we store the selected media for your profile. Updated Android builds use a system picker instead of requesting broad access to your media library. Older installed builds may still request library permission; you can update the app or use the website. On iOS, selecting an original video may require photo-library permission; video upload remains optional.

We also record product activity needed to provide the service, such as profile views, the café profile associated with a view, application status, login and security events, and basic technical information supplied by our hosting and authentication providers. We may also collect error details, page URLs, browser information, and diagnostic logs when something fails so we can troubleshoot reliability problems.

2. How we use information

3. Profile and marketplace visibility

Signed-in marketplace members may see information intended for matching, such as display name or café name, general location, biography, skills, experience, availability, desired pay, job posts, and coffee-video availability. A barista can see the café name and visit time when a café opens the barista’s profile.

Coffee videos are stored privately. Access is controlled through authenticated, time-limited access rather than a permanently public file URL.

4. Service providers

We use service providers to operate BaristaMatch, including Supabase for authentication, database, realtime updates, and file storage; Vercel for hosting and delivery; Expo for application builds, updates, and push-notification delivery; Apple and Google for optional sign-in; Resend for transactional service emails; and Stripe for café billing and subscription administration if paid access is enabled. These providers may process identifiers, device tokens, account activity, transaction status, or other information necessary to provide their services. We do not receive or store full payment-card numbers. We may also disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect rights, security, and safety.

5. Cookies and local storage

BaristaMatch and its authentication providers use browser storage and similar technologies needed to keep you signed in, protect sessions, and operate core features. We do not use this policy to authorize unrelated third-party advertising trackers.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain account and marketplace information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service. When you use the in-app Delete Account control, we initiate permanent deletion of your account, profile, jobs, matches, messages, and uploaded media. Limited records may be retained when required by tax, accounting, legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution obligations. Backup copies may persist for a limited period until overwritten under normal backup schedules.

7. Your choices and rights

You can edit profile information, control optional profile media, manage notification permissions through your device, block or report users, and permanently delete your account from Account Settings. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, or object to certain processing. You can also request account and associated-data deletion without the app installed. We will respond to verified requests as required by applicable law.

8. Security

We use authentication, access controls, row-level database policies, private video storage, file restrictions, and encrypted network connections designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so use a unique password and keep your login credentials private.

9. Younger users

BaristaMatch is not directed to children under 16, and account creation is limited to people who confirm they are at least 16. Users under the age of majority may use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. Cafés and users remain responsible for complying with work-eligibility, permitted-hours, consent, and other youth-employment requirements. If you believe a person under 16 has created an account, contact us so we can investigate and delete the information as appropriate.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as BaristaMatch evolves. We will post the revised policy with a new effective date and provide additional notice when required.

11. Contact

BaristaMatch LLC is responsible for this policy. For privacy questions, access or deletion requests, or concerns about a younger user, email hello@baristajobmatch.com. Please do not send passwords, government identification numbers, payment-card numbers, or other sensitive credentials by email.
